Longest Bridge in Indonesia (Suramadu)


Suramadu bridge is the longest bridge in Indonesia today, which connects the island of Java and Madura. The bridge has a length of 5438 meters which is composed of three parts, namely the flyovers, bridges and major bridges. The bridge was inaugurated earlier by President Megawati Sukarnoputri construction on August 20, 2003 and its opening was inaugurated by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on June 10, 2009. Longest bridge construction is intended to accelerate development on the island of Madura, covering the infrastructure and economy in Madura, which is relatively low compared to other regions in East Java. Estimated cost of construction of this bridge is 4.5 trillion rupiah.
